xolair and being extremely tired after the shots

Hi Everyone

I have been on xolair since this past Feb.
I find I get wiped out by more tiredness than usual.

I have not had miracle results yet but I was told that it can take up to a year
before results are noticed.

I have been off prednisone for afew weeks but summer is usually my good time
because there are not as many flus and viruses around. I am hoping for the
best and I am sure I will find out this winter because that is my worst time.

Anybody else with comments about xolair?
Thanks

Re: xolair and being extremely tired after the shots

I've been on Xolair with shots once a month since June 2010. I never noticed any side effects from taking the shots. I will say that during about the first 5 months I was having a lot of asthma problems that kept me constantly worn down.

At this point in my treatment, I consider Xolair as a wonder-drug for me. I'm not sure exactly when the effectiveness of the treatments really kicked in, but this time last year, I was on 4 allergy meds and 2 asthma meds daily, frequent antibiotics and prednisone. Today, I'm off of all of them!!! I do still need my inhaler which I've used a few times for chemically triggered asthma attacks. This is after 10 years on Advair (500/50 most of the time) and singulair and 15 years on allergy meds.

If you continue to have problems, you might talk to your doctor. They might be able to adjust your dosages some.

Good luck,
MountainReader

Re: xolair and being extremely tired after the shots

Thanks for sharing the encouraging results you have had.

When I have been in the clinic getting my xolair shots I have heard from
other people too how much it has helped them. I am just hoping it works for me.

I am seeing my asthma doctor in September so I will tell her about the side effects. I also get a headache after the shots too and I use to get dizzy but I have not had that for a few shots. I get my shots after 2 weeks because my dose is quite high and it also goes by weight.

Continued good luck to you.

Re: xolair and being extremely tired after the shots

I've been on Xolair since Jan 2010 with shots every other week. I haven't felt tired after the shots nor any other reactions. For me it seemed to take almost a year before it starting working and I've been doing well for the past 8 months. I had 2 asthma flares in 2010 that lasted 6 weeks each & my doctor claimed that if I had not been on Xolair these flares would have been much worse - I didn't really believe her at the time because I felt so miserable, but in retrospect I think she was right & it just took a year for the full effect to kick in.

Hi Ron

Thanks for sharing your experience with xolair. I am so gald it is working for you now.
I know I have to give it time but I have heard from some people that it has worked almost immediatley and I want that too.

I hope your asthma continues to improve. Just out of interest have you been able to reduce your daily medications.

Klynn

Re: xolair and being extremely tired after the shots

Klynn, I've been able to completely eliminate all daily asthma meds except symbicort (I was on lots of meds). Also I only need albuterol maybe once every couple weeks. I feel like I could stop the symbicort but the doc says no.
