risperdal and methylphenidate

My son has been on .5mg at night for 3 years to control him temper that comes with his autism and done realy well! He is also on Adderall 15mg for ADHD. He has maybe gained 10 pounds over that time, but sleeps through the night finally and does great in school. He has been on 15 different meds, but this combination seems to be working the best right now. Maybe other kids were put on much too high doses?!

Many kids and adults do great on this drug and I'm glad your son is doing great but like any drug out today some people do much worse on them. It just seems that this drug has been gaining a track record of being a big problem for many more people than most expected. Also does your son take a half tablet a day from a 1mg pill for a total of .5mg or does he take more than that. He could have .5mg tablets but taking them twice a day for example which would mean he gets a total of 1mg per day. I'm sure you mean he is taking .5mg per day but I've seen many parents miss that little tidbit. In my case I started at .5mg per day and worked my way up to 1mg tablets twice a day for a total of 2mg each day.

My son only takes a total of .5mg of Risperdal each night, no more.
