AprilMorone, have they ever tested you for celiac disease? You said in your post something about wheat bread so if you are still eating that you probably haven't been tested. This also refers to the other post because after a negative blood test for celiac disease, my youngest daughter had a confirmed positive diagnosis with biopsy. I've been arguing with doctors for years over her stomach aches that they said were caused by her being a 'nervous kid', I knew they were wrong because she just looked sick all the time that the same docs chalked up to being anemic. Keep fighting for yourself and don't give up, good luck.

This quest to find out what's going on with me as left me feeling pretty hopeless to say the least. My question is, What autoimmune disorders, if any, won't show up on blood tests? A few doctors have said to me before that I have many symptoms indicative of lupus. I have also read that many people that are diagnosed with lupus have gone years and years of getting multiple opinions from doctors because, their blood tests came back clean, yet the symptoms were persistent. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

LeaBeans I just found this site today and thought i found gold. I love that it has all the different topics for everyone's health issues.
Anyway, I been reading your post and I have to say your story sounded so much like mine only 23 years ago. I still to this day don't have any for sure facts. Now about 5 years ago i had an apt. with a new Dr. as usual and he sat and went over my papers with me and talk about so many things. After about 3 hours of this he starts checking my body for this and that. He came to the conclusion that i have Fibromyalgia.
I had never heard of that before. Bottom line is since i have done many years of research and Fibro. has so many systems like Lupus, and MS. I swear i really did think i had MS. then i could have Lupus also.
They have told me i don't have MS even though the signs are a like. He did tell me why but i forgot. But Lupus has been in the back of Dr. mind always. Now I didn't go to him because he was an hour an half away and he wanted me to do some work outs there, i couldn't make that drive every other day my body would not allow me to.
Now about 3 years ago i found another Dr. and i be darn he said the same thing. So that's two times with this Fibromyalgia and im wondering if you have ever given any thought about that.
You can not do any tests to tell because there just isn't any. I'm like you i have been to the best of them and every kind of Dr. you can think of and for nothing.
Now i'm 52 with COPD, circulation problems, tons of other things added. I was told last week i have Planters feet. It hurts so bad to walk i can't stand it.
I ended up having to retire 3 years ago because i can no longer work. The depression has got the best of me any more that i don't feel any hope at the end of the tunnel.
I feel the need to do my research again i have taken a year or so off but back at it again.
Don't you ever give up it has been many years for me now i may never find out before i die, but people out there have to keep going to these Dr.'s and bug them to death so they don't stop searching for us. It has made my Dr. that i have now doing research on his own. I think that's pretty cool myself.
Sorry this was so long i just had to say something even if you have thought about it before. But i noticed not one person mentioned Fibro.
    Thanks for listening.
    Good luck!
    Sending a hug.

I just have to say that my whole life my family always down played my health and would ALWAYS refer to me feeling ill as being a "nervous kid". The problem is that people are so ignorant to the reality which is that there are over a 100 autoimmune diseases now and more than enough specialists to deal with each disease. Older people are so used to the idea of one doctor knowing everything. People need to stop relying on an annual checkup and their primary care physician and start taking the initiative themselves by going to specialists and not stopping til they find answers. It's been five years for me and I finally got the 3rd and final diagnosis of lupus and can finally start treatment although, at this point my entire reproductive system is shot and so are my intestines and adrenal system but, all parents who have even an inkling of a feeling that their child is sick more than normal should really seek help immediately and be consistent with it. The earlier they catch it the better outcome there will be.
