    MCTD and nauseous

Does anyone with MCTD get nauseous after eating?

Hi. Did you start any meds yet? Did your sailing expedition (you mentioned separately) set you back? Did you get a lot of sun that day? (Sun alone is enough to set me off.) I have lupus, milder side, no major organ involvement. When I have pain & fatigue, I usually have some nausea as well, and lose my appetite. But we're all different & flare differently, so I hope others add more... plus we're equally "eligible" for the usual GI and stomach viruses that make the rounds. Feel better soon!

I am not on any meds yet. Still have not heard from doc. Sailing---I got a little sun, but I made sure and was completely covered from head to toe. However, I have never had a flare due to the sun...that I know of. Maybe it was. I am feeling more crappy daily. I have a message out to the doc.

Was wondering...are you gluten free? Wondering if that would help... Thanks Vee!!!!
Also, I am assuming it is a good idea to get flu shot?

Without meds, my symptoms kept worsening & flares were lasting longer. I hope your dr. gets back, so you can get rolling on something.

I've gotten the seasonal flu shot since childhood. I believe it's a dead virus, as opposed to live, thus generally OK for people with AI's. But some people can't for other reasons (allergic to eggs, etc.), so I'd double-check with PCP or rheum, esp. if you've never had one before now.

I'm not gluten-free, but I watch what I eat: aim for nutritious, balanced meals, low-fat, low sodium, fresh foods. Avoiding gluten is flat-out necessary for people with Celiac, but I don't know how much gluten-free helps with the other AI's. Do you think you might have Celiac?

I don't think I have Celiac. I think just not being on meds is making me worse. I literally just got off the phone with the doctor herself. She wants to see me Monday morning!!!! She is awesome!!!!
I have had the flu shot for the last three years as prior to that I was constantly getting sick. Flu shot really helped that! I will talk to her on Monday and see what she says about it. I forgot to ask while I was on the phone with her.
    Thanks Vee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

ok. Went to doc today. Got all kinds of answers to all my questions that I wrote down!!! YAY! She started me on Plaquenil (sp). I have to go to eye doc first before I can actually start it so that apt is Wednesday. She said not only do I have MCTD she said I also have fibromyalgia. Fun fun fun. That's okay. A little at a time and I hope to get to as normal as possible but I will not dwell on it if I don't.
