Re: MRI Lumbar Result Please Help

Do you think the PT is making the pain worse?
Do you think the PT is making the pain worse?
I don't know if it is. It could be. What I do know is that over the past few weeks it has slowly has gotten worse. The numbing and pins and needles has increased all the way down to my feet starting in my butt.

Re: MRI Lumbar Result Please Help

I will soon. Just waiting on the call from the scheduler. She is waiting on the general surgeons schedule since he will be the one to get the spine surgeon access to my spine from the front. I am hoping to get a call today or tomorrow. It's been a 2 weeks since i saw the doctor last and decided on surgery.

Yes, it is agonizingly slow waiting to get the next appointment. Hopefully you won't have to wait too much longer. But you will want a little time to get yourself ready for the surgery. Do you live alone?

Re: MRI Lumbar Result Please Help

I do not live alone. It's my wife and 2 1/2 year old that live with me. My father is also coming down to help out with taking me to the hospital and anything else we need him to do. My mother-in-law was also going to come down around then to help out as well. My wife's hands are already pretty full with the little one.

Oh was wondering about the straight leg test while laying on your back. Fifty percent of the time my wife checks it for me it can be raise with not much pain. The other FIFTY percent it can only be raised between 6 inches to a foot then lots of pain. Does that probably mean that one of my disc's keeps budging or herniated?

Re: MRI Lumbar Result Please Help

Another update

Saw my surgeon again today and got the call for my surgery date. Based on my increase symptoms and intensity of them he decided that a 3 level fusion of the L3-S1 would be the best option. This is going to be Anterior and Posterior on October 2nd. I know it's going to be a long recovery.

Re: MRI Lumbar Result Please Help

Yes...but hopefully, most of it will be done with minimal pain. It took me 14 months to rehab after my L3-S1 posterior fusion...but I felt good enough after day 11that I stopped all pain medication.

Re: MRI Lumbar Result Please Help

I have to say I am truly ready for this surgery. Today has been the worst day. The pain is a constant 8 1/2 in my lower back. No matter what I do I can't get comfort and lessen the pain. I can barely walk and my nerves are really acting up and causing more numbing in my lower legs and feet. Also have abdominal and groin pain. If it gets any worse I will have to go to the ER to get something to help with this pain.
