Lower back pain causing leg cramps

I have a constant, nagging pain in my lower back on the left side. This also causes my legs, specifically my hamstrings, to cramp the WHOLE day. The pain never goes away. I do not know what normal feels like anymore. I find myself having to stretch after waking up because it is impossible to move my legs. I had a scan and xrays done recently but everything came back 'normal' I had a follow-up visit with my thyroid specialist today. He did a reflex test and said I had no reflexes. I just want the pain to go away!

Re: Lower back pain causing leg cramps

Welcome to the board. Sounds to me like you need to have a MRI. What you describe sounds like the typical description of a herniated disc or disc problem at L4-5, possibly L5-S1.

What did the doctor you saw today for thyroid think was causing your pain and lack of reflexes? Was it all reflexes or ankle reflexes...in one leg or both?

Thank u for your reply. He said there is definitely something wrong. I had no reflexes in both knees and nothing on both feet whatsoever. He has however referred me.

Re: Lower back pain causing leg cramps

What type of specialist did he refer you to? I would suggest either an orthopedic spine surgeon or neurosurgeon!
