Re: I really want help with my Sciatica
Dear TheLingerer,
There are specific stretches that work very well, that we can do to release pressure off the sciatic nerve. Just search for the words sciatic nerve release. One great sciatic nerve stretch is to stand straight facing a wall, put both hands on the wall, and bending one knee, keeping the back straight, lean forward to do gentle but firm stretches. Change legs. Keep the hips, head and neck straight.
A MRI is OK to get for your mental comfort, but you know there is no broken bone. That expense is completely not necessary. Medical doctors do not prescribe a massage and stretches. They will only state 'nothing is wrong'. Their whole purpose is to prescribe medication and surgical procedures.
Chiropractors can be useful if bones are out of place. But that is not the issue with the pinched sciatic nerve. The nerve is positioned within buttock muscle. When those muscles are too tight, they pinch the nerve. We can learn to release it ourselves. I know because I suffer sciatic nerve pain due to different leg bone lengths from a serious accident many years ago. I regularly have to pay attention to keeping the nerve released. Once those muscles get too tight they keep on pinching the sciatic nerve. Recently someone I know had to deal with the same issue from daily sitting in a chair at work.
It is not about how fit we are. It is about the buttock muscles pinching the nerve.
