Intense chest and back pain when laying down Hello, I am a 14 year old male who has been spending a lot of time in bed recently. Every time I adjust my position or move slightly when laying down I feel intense pain on the upper-left side of both the chest and back areas. This also happens when I am standing for periods of time longer than 15 minutes. Every time I sneeze when laying down, or already experiencing pain from said areas, It feels comparable to a gunshot for 45 seconds, with lingering pain for 5 minutes. Last night I sneezed and now I can barely move my neck to the left before my neck and chest hurt. I'm pretty certain these two events aren't linked, however this did start up around the same time that I fell back and hit my head, causing a moderate concussion that I am still recovering from. My mom doesn't think much of it, and online research yields results ranging from improper use of pillows to an inflamed heart. (I didn't know where else to post this, and I understand it has less to do with back pain than the rest of the posts on this board) |
Re: Intense chest and back pain when laying down When is your next check in with your doctor about the concussion? I'd bring it up then. You could have dislocated something, |
Re: Intense chest and back pain when laying down I'm going in to see the specialist this Wednesday. However, I convinced my mom to bring me to the pediatrician. Which one do you think would provide the most help? |
Re: Intense chest and back pain when laying down You don't say what kind of doctor the specialist is so it's hard to say. probably both would be good. |
Re: Intense chest and back pain when laying down Sorry. All I know is that the building says sports medicine. Thank you for the help! |
Re: Intense chest and back pain when laying down Sports medicine initially would be best. q |
Re: Intense chest and back pain when laying down For a concussion at a sports med clinic you probably saw a neurologist. Be sure to mention all the issues when you see him. |
Re: Intense chest and back pain when laying down Will do, thanks! |
Re: Intense chest and back pain when laying down Ask your doctor if he recommends you some stretching exercises maybe |
