Unhappy Ouchie Coccyx

I'm a 20 year old female, and when I was much younger I fell out of a tree and landed on my tailbone. As an 8 year old I really didn't think much of it, but I've had problems with it since. Occassional random pain, not being able to sit for long periods of time on it (makes class and movies soo much fun), and other lower back and body pain (I usually wake up with lots of pain in my lower back could these two things be connected?). I've also heard that it can have negative affects on other aspects of health or body (though I'm not sure if I should believe that or if it's just hearsay). Anyway, is there anything I can or should do about it? Please help! I'd like to able to sit through class or a movie pain free.

Have you had your back xrayed?
I too have a achey tailbone & cant sit for long at movies etc - or on anything hard - & I have spondylolisthesis - it means slipped verterbra in Latin -at L5 & S1
Also fell many times out of trees
Anyway get it checked out with an xray or MRI
best of luck
Spondylolisthesis at L5S1 = nerve impingement = pain in legs & feet

If you look at my signature, you'll see that I had a displaced tailbone (coccyx) which was found w/ a simple xray of the coccyx area.

I had coccygeal manipulations done twice, along w/ caudal steroid injections which helped w/ the sitting length tremendously. Unfortunately, I have other problems, too ... so I'm still going to docs. If it were only the tailbone, I feel pretty certain I would have my life back by now!

Good luck...and if you have any other questions, please let me know!
