Question Lump/knot in dimple of buttocks cheek?

I have had Prolotherapy for my stretched ligaments and solved my loose ligament problem. My pelvis is staying aligned. My lower back isn't hurting. I am on Neurtontin. I have arthritis in L4 and am taking Betrax for that and now that doesn's hurt anymore.

BUT, I have pain in the dimple of my right hip. There is a knot there. I have no idea what it is. Last night we sprayed DMSO on it. Man that stuff burns and tastes nasty in your mouth almost instantaneously. (I know the label says, no contact with skin but I thought that I would give it a try.)

The pain went away for the night.

HOWEVER, the knot is still there and I can't even stand it when clothes touch it.

Any ideas? I am seeing a Neurologist tomorrow. I am not sure what to ask him. I am not sure it if is related to my back, a nerve, or a vein. I have had clots in my veins before in my arms and they desolved on their own. They were pretty big.

Anyone who has a pain from their back to their hip, leg, and down, have a knot in their dimple?

I thought that I had it all solved. This is baffling me and I don't want to use the DMSO again.

The Neurologist that we see is surgery happy so I can't depend on him to say offer me any advice.

Could be DSMO, not sure which way those initials work. It is a highly controversial ointment that says *not for skin contact on it* that makes the pain and swelling go away. I used it for two nights and my pain was gone. I told my Neurologist yesterday, while I was there for an appointment that I had used it and he had no problem with it.

You can buy it at a health food store. It burns for about fifteen minutes and after using it there is a strong taste of garlic in your mouth, immediately, but it worked for me.

I have had pain in the dimple of my butt to the point that it was bringing me down to my knees at points. I finally got a diagnoses, yesterday, synovial cysts. I am going to have these removed, meantime, I am using this stuff as it is the only thing that has worked for me.

I can't post any links here but it is DMSO and it is an anti-inflammatory, pain med, very controversial, but it proven to work. Only one death, ever attributed to it.

Hello everyone....haven't been here for a while. Anyhow.....we used to use DMSO on the horses years ago when raceing. Strange stuff.....Dimethyl sulfoxide and it's sum sort of by-product that has something to do with lumber and term'd as a solvent. We quit useing it after a while cuz we'd heard it could make you sick and is absorbed FAST into the skin. But....we used it for rub downs and sore spots and even the vet had told me to always wear plastic gloves when applying it. Sorta made me nervous. Not heard it mentiond in years. My husband was a blacksmith for many years also and was concern'd workin on horses that had been rubbed down with it and gettin it on him. I have lumps across my pelvis or hip on the bone all the way across and heard they were scar tissue from injuries ? The area is lumpy as heck and squishy. I think I am falling apart. PF wishes to you all, Pam

    Kootie:

They sell it at the health food store but don't endorse it and won't give any info on it. I looked it up on the net and could find no health problems related to it. There was one woman who died from using it and then they put warning labels on it. One woman out of how many? I am still using it

Anyway, each time that I use it the inflammation goes right down and the pain goes away. I use it before I go to sleep at night. That way the burning that lasts about five to ten minutes is gone before I fall asleep. It does put a strong taste of garlic in your mouth almost instantly as it works that fast.

My Neurologist had no problem with me using it.

My lumps turned out to be synovial cysts. If I sit back in a chair or clothes rub on them, it is like a white hot poker stabbing me. I am going to have them snipped out. I can't see how I would have scar tissue there as I haven't done anything there to cause it. I thought about shots but they put those higher up. There is no joint there, I don't think. I did read that synovial cysts are usually in joints. But, the Neurologist said that this is what it is and if they bother me, which they do, it is a simple, out patient procedure. If it were a joint, I would reconsider due to a the possibility of arthritis setting in. It is so small that I can't see complications from scar tissue either although I will explore that possibility.

When I reach back and feel along my back, at the waist and over, there is a large, lump and yes, it is squishy, but if I press on it I jump about a foot from pain.

    Hello

I too have a knot and dimple, in my right butt cheek, it is so painful i can't stand to touch it. I had one doc who said it was probably from the periformis muscle, another who is not sure. All I know is that it is very painful. I was soo glad to see your post. Thanks for sharing your info!

I hope that you are still there as I have been off line of a month or two. I am been trying to find a doctor who can tell me what is wrong. I have ran the gamut. I have had the following opinions:

    Osteopath: Inflammed nerve/no relief

    Neurologist: Synovial cysts/ no relief

Back surgeon who does Prolotherapy: no idea/ no relief

Second Osteopath: states that it is an SI dysfunction and is setting me up with a physiotherapist

No one has determined why I have a pea sized lump in the dimple of my back. I thought that it had to do with a nerve but after researching the net I found that there is a vein that runs right where the pain is localized. It is so bad that I can't move around. When I lay down it feels like I am laying on something. It feels like I have a mass in my back on the right side in the dimple of my butt. I can actually feel the mass. It is like a tight knot. If I touch it at all I literally junp from pain.

The Neurosurgeon assured me that is was simply a synovial cysts and that if they hurt, have it taken out. I am not sure that hurting describes the pain. I can't sit down to go to the bathroom as it places pressure on the lump.

I had an MRI but they scanned the wrong area of my back. The doctor was not clear and they did an MRI of the lower spine. Now I have to have it done again.

All of the docs want to push pain pills and anti-inflammatory drugs at me. It has been six months and I have not taken the pain meds. Next stop is a steroid injection in the SI joint, which I have been refusing.

At this point a bullet to the head would make more sense.

Each doctor has a different diagnoses and each one of them want to refer you to a specialist who is not covered by my insurance.

It feels to be like I have a knot in the vein in my back to my hip. I can actually move the hard knot around and it seems like it is part of a vein. At first I thought that it was part of a nerve but then it dawned on me, that is a vein. I had the same thing in my arm last year.

Do these knots move? Are they scar tissue? Are they clots? Should I be worried?

My feet are extremely cold so I know that I am not getting good circulation.

I have been assured that it is not part of my spine and that my back is fine.

Everyone is passing me around. It is not like I am asking for pain meds. I have not taken any since this began. I have my records to prove it to them. All I want are anwers.

Yesterday I lost bladder function but I thought that was only considered when you have sciatica. Two days running I have lost bladder function.

With this last doctor I had to sign a waiver that I would not sue him if anything went wrong.

If anyone has any insight, please let me know

    thanks,

    Hey Betty,

If you are losing control of your bladder you should go to the emergency room!

That symtem is very serious! I would highly recommend that you get an emergency MRI done in the right area. It sounds as if you have something going on in your spinal area. However, I am not the doc. But what I have read tells me you have to get help ASAP!

Take Care and keep us posted!

    Taz
