Question Inversion Table Post Discectomy/Laminectomy L5/S1

I wonder if anyone has had any experience with Inversion Tables, especially anyone that has had a prior discectomy/laminectomy. I tried one a couple of months ago at a friends house and it really felt rather good on my back, neck and shoulders afterward. I was even thinking about purchasing one for home. Then my husband brought up a good point, that perhaps I should see if they are recommended for people that have had surgery on their backs. I can see where if I had a fusion or any hardware in my back that this might be an issue , but I had not entertained the thought that there could be issues for a post discectomy/laminectomy patient.

Anybody have experience or knowledge regarding this? I would appreciate any input you might have on the subject. Dee

Dear Backto Basics I have a Inversion table and it does wonders for my pain. I have found that if I only use it two times a day for about 5 minutes at a time it does help with the pain. I can tell you that your Doctor will not let you use is after surgery until you are in full recovery.

Question Re: Inversion Table Post Discectomy/Laminectomy L5/S1

    Deputyokie:

Thank you for your reply. I think I would be considered fully recovered at this point. It has been a year and a little over a month since my discectomy/laminectomy. My surgeon indicated at 4 months post op I could resume normal activities. I will say at 4 months I was not ready, it was more like 8-9 months before I felt safe in resuming some things.

I would like to hear more opinions on the inversion table, anyone else have any experience on this subject?
