    Question question for those who have had both anterior/posterior cervical fusion?

    hi everyone
    i was just curios as to the difference in anterior cervical and posterior cervical fusion. i have had the aterior and will be going in for my 2nd surgery on the 27th of aug. posterior this time. good news or bad i need to know what to expect. it is funny how this is my 2nd time around and i am more nervous than the first! go figure. please don't hold back i feel it is better to be truthful. thanks so much it is greatly appreciated

    2/98 anterior laminectomy c5/6-c6/7 w/titatium plate and six screws-used my own hip bone

    returned to work in sept/98

    oct/98 was struck from behind by a bus! never had an accident before this!!

    4/2000 i went to the docs again and was told to go home soak in tub and take ibprophen well took advise and as soon as i leaned back my neck snapped.. my neck fractured after all this come to find out my site hasn't fused yet,

    2nd surgery coming up 8/27/2003 posterior this time

    So sorry to hear of your pain!

    I haven't had surgery...but, wanted to offer my support [img]http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/love1.gif[/img]

    Also, I think I've read that there's quite a bit of info on Spinal Disorders part of this forum. Hope you get some answers!

    9/22/00 24 hour labor, baby posterior, left tailbone killing me
    12/00 MRI -normal-but pain still-began taking vicodin
    2/8/02 - 2nd baby born - Csection-healthy girl
    2000-11/02 various PT + pain meds
    11/02 Referred to Neuro
    3/03 NEW MRI - slight bulge L3-L4, DDD, neural foramen,Superior aspect S1 and L5 Nerve root involvement-Neuro Refers to PM for ESI's
    (2 Rt Transforaminal,1 lumbosacral,3rd one numbed tailbone little
    5/9 - Discogram - shows Tear L4 w/ significant leak onto nerves, DDD
    Performing doc oversedated, False Negative
    7/8- Dept Head ClCl consult
    7/28 - ClevelClinic for Facet Injection, changed to Caudal Epidural after seeing xray of displaced coccyx;also,coccygeal manipulation
    8/12 - 2nd caudal inj/no coccyx manip
    8/14 -coccyx manip AGAIN
    9/25 sched appt to begin tx on Disc Tear @ ClevelClinic
