Wink Lidocaine patch and Bio Freeze question

Hi all, I have 2 questions.

My daughter was just perscribed Lidocaine patches to numb the pain of her nerve damage (in her foot). Has anyone heard of it being used for back problems? It really works for my daughter and it's not a norcatic...so I am wondering why I have never heard of it.

2nd: Prior to my surgery, there were a couple of posts from people who reccomended "Bio Freeze". Does anyone know where you buy this or is it an Rx?

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Lorie

Bio Freeze is a great topical analgesic. It is a gel and can be purchased at many Chiropractic offices as well as Licensed Massage Therapists without a prescription. I have used the Lidocaine patches, they are very expensive ( $4 each ) unless you have insurance. They did not help my nerve pain in my back, and alleviated very little back pain for me. Good Luck!

I was given a script for Lidocaine patches for my back pain S1 L5 but they did nothing for me at all, My Husband was given them for his knee pain and they did nothing for him as well.
I saw the BioFreeze at my Pain Management Doc's office, you can buy if there.

Re: Lidocaine patch and Bio Freeze question

My husband was prescribed lidocain patches a couple of different times. Neither time did they do anything for him. We have TONS of these patches at our house. I got burned good on my hand one day from our grill. My husband cut one & put around my burns. It took the pain away in minutes! I had no scar from the burn after either. The last time my husband saw his neuro he asked him if those patches ever helped him any. He said no and I told the neuro that they work wonders for small burns as far as taking the pain away. The neuro told me that they are not supposed to be used for that. ( I was waiting for a lecture on using them ) He then smiled at me & winked as he said, "They really do work well for those"

I am not saying people should use them for burns, just telling you what I did. (Sometimes I tend to be naughty when it comes to doing things I shouldnt)

We still have 4 boxes, can't seem to get rid of the worthless things, Now I know what to do next time I get burned, Hummmm I live in Florida, wonder what they do for sunburns????
As far as I can see they are worthless for anything under the skin.

I use Biofreeze and you buy it at medical supply stores and it costs about 12.00 for 4oz. But it is worth it.

Wink Re: Lidocaine patch and Bio Freeze question

Thak you guys...I knew I'd get a response I am going to look for the Bio Freeze. It sounds like it has worked for many. I guess there's a reason I haven't been offered the Lidocaine patch

    Thanks again,

    Lorie

Re: Lidocaine patch and Bio Freeze question

    Hi,
They have samples of Bio-Freeze. Ask for that first, I tried the sample and it turned my back bright red within seconds and burned so bad I couldn't get in the shower fast enough, some of it soaked in and just kept burning, guess I can't use that. Before buying it though, try a sample first.
