Lightbulb New Here and Needing Some Help!!!

Hi everyone! I am a 38 year old woman. In October a CT scan showed that I am missing L3 and L4 and L5 has cracked and slipped onto S1. I have been confined to a hospital bed in my livingroom and am still waiting for an appointment with the specialist. I have been forgotten a few times and the appointment has still not been made. My hips are sore to the touch, and I keep getting swelling that runs up along side my spine. Does anyone else suffer from this? I cannot find information anywhere and am feeling like a freak? Does anyone know if missing vertabrae is a big deal? I do not have a family doctor so the whole process seems to be taking forever. Any advice would be great! Thanks for listening!

Re: New Here and Needing Some Help!!!

I think you need to pick up the phone and start dialing. Who ordered the MRI that found your disc problems? Is that who is supposed to be setting up an appt with a specialist for you? IF so, he sure isn't much of a doctor to let you lie there in pain like that. So, you need to be pro active and start calling specialists in your area. See how soon you can get in and start with the first and nearest appt. If you don't like that dr., see the next one on the list. But you cannot continue to just lie there like that and wait.

I don't know what that swelling is; is there any redness or it is hot to touch?
If so, it might be signaling an infection. Other than that, I draw a blank.

Please, do get busy and make an appt. for yourself asap. If your ins. doesn't allow that, then bug the heck out of the one who is supposed to be getting your appt set up. They sure as heck would only "forget" me 1 time, I guarantee it!!

Good luck to you, welcome to the board....and please let us know how you are doing.

By the way, the boards are kind of slow on the weekends, so don't be offended if you don't get too many responses.
