How I managed and eleviated my pain....

I hurt my back a year ago, the pain was the worst I have ever experienced... I had months of pain on and off, spasms that should qualify us for some kind of an award since we make it through them. Some days I could function, other days were just hard to make it through. In August my MD sent me for an MRI, I remember being in tears as it hurt so bad laying flat on the table. The results only showed a bulge and a tear. I guess that could have almost been normal for my age (48). Anyway, pain it almost the worst thing to live with, day after day, I found myself becoming depressed horribly at times. This board was super-supportive for me and I appreciated that tremendously as no one knows unless you live it. I have to tell you what has helped me. I started a gentle yoga class, and I do mean beginner, beginner last September. My back hurt the first couple of months but now I feel better then I have in years. I am more flexible and my back bothers me very little. I know not everyone can do this and what we do is basically some good stretching for the spine, but very slow. Maybe this can help someone here as it has really helped me. I also have osteoporosis in my spine and I am hoping it will delay that process. Good luck everyone!!

I'm glad you have found something that helps you; I wish it were that easy for most of us. Any exercise leaves me in pain for days; bending or squating is impossible.

It's always nice to hear that someone has found something that works for them. Good luck to you.
