    shooting pain to anus

My MRI says I have the bulge at L5S1, hemangioma, and sprain. Other degenerative problems abound, but I'm only 40. I'm so sad and have been taking care of my back since I injured it on Feb. 1. By the way, this was not my first injury. Today, I've walked around a bit, bent over since I feel good, and have done some stretching.

Now, I'm feeling shooting pain to my anus. It is not horribly painful but I'm concerned.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this part of the healing process?

I'm taking Flexiril, Medrol dose pack, and Ibuprofen with hydrocodone.

    Thanks for any sage advice,

I have some of the same symptoms as you. Please consider asking a dr or chiropractor if it could be SI joint problems. This joint is very often overlooked when there is low back pain, pain near your tailbone, and sometimes even pain, numbness or tingling in your legs. I am going thru extensive tests right now to determine if my problems are the SI joint. Did you have an accident or injury at work? I wish you the best. Everyone on the forum here is very willing to talk about their problems and diagnosis. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like. Cheryl

Becky--I have had that symptom. It is definitely scary when it's happening! Like hemmerhoids but sharper! If you experience numbness in the region, or any bowel issues, it's time to seek urgent attention. If it is "only" pain, my own experience has been that it can come and go. But, as you know, we're all different with this stuff.

It is also possible that this pain is not related to your back, at least not directly. I have a "spastic" colon and stress will cause me to have that same shooting pain which comes from spasms of the colon.

    Just a thought to consider.

Thanks for all the advice. I did have an accident; I turned while holding a case of water and there went the snap.
Needless to say, this is not the first back ailment I've had.

The pain is much less today, but usually is when I'm not teaching.
