Unhappy Help with my MRI results

My Dr. just called and is referring me to a neurosurgeon!!! My MRI shows (the concern) Bulging C5 C6 in which this is causing narrowing of the canal(?) and is touching my spinal cord. I also have a mild protrusion in the T 6/7 level right side, which is not narrowing the canal or touching the spinal cord. What my lumbar showed he said was insignificant in comparision to the cervical. What's wrong with me!!! Please advise!

Re: Help with my MRI results

Sounds like he's taking the proper precautions...just to make sure your spinal cord is not impinged or otherwise affected. Protrusions on the canal could potentially be bad for your spine, so I think that this is a good move on your doctor's part. I would only worry once the neuro gives you bad news...besides, even "bad" news could have a good solution/remedy.

Keep your hopes up, and keep us posted. We're here for you.

Re: Help with my MRI results

just out of curiosity, what kind of symptoms of pain have you been having? I have a small bulge at C5-6 too. Don't be too scared though-wish you the best!

Re: Help with my MRI results

I was rear-ended about 6 weeks ago. Since then I have continual pain in my neck, shoulders, and down my back. Lately if I move my arms(dishes, laundry) I get numbness, like someone running water down my sides of my back. I have visable and feelable spasms on each side of my neck and on the top of each shoulder blade. I wake up every day in like a 3/4 in pain, with movement(anytype) it graduates to a 6/7 sometimes 8/9 on a 1-10 pain scale. No numbness in arms or legs, jus pain, uncomfortness and this numbness in the back. I'm going to PT 2x a week, and it's really not helping, although I enjoy getting out of the house!! So today, I'll just wait for this neurosurgeon to call and see whats next. It's the worst thing I've ever been through!
