pain... help me understand

i have had joint and especially back pain for many years the last 5 have had pm doctors and have tried many many meds. I find them ever so slightly helpful
i feel like i am at end of rope and want to end the battle much more.
have had mri and bone scans 4 years ago and have had shots with no help
i am getting a spinal stimulator but don't have much hope.
i don't understand the little diagnosis i've gotten but they are 4 years old and its gotten much much worse. I don't understand any of it but my body is in pain 24/7 and i would appreciate any help or explanations.
Diagnosis: lumbar spondylosis , lumbar degenerative disc disease, mild disc and facet degenerative change, midline disc bulges L2-L5 facet degenerative changes L3-S1

Painman, I'm surprised you've not mentioned having any corrective surgery. You say you've been going to a pain management doctor, but did not indicate you have ever gone to either a ortho or neuro spine surgeon specialist. I guess I'm confused as to why have surgery and implant a stimulator and never have any corrective surgery to relieve what is causing the pain. Can you provide a big more background on your situation?

Re: pain... help me understand

I agree with that question-it seems you have tried pretty much all you can, have you? I had DDD in two discs and when they were removed in December, all the low back pain I had from spasms to nerve pain has pretty much gone away. Have you had a discogram to see if the discs could be a large part of your problem? We all agree that surgery is the last resort, but it might be worth looking into. I am 27 and had actually had one prior back surgery four years ago, but b/c I chose not to care for my back, things got worse. I really hope the best for you and maybe it is time to seek advice from a specialist?

Re: pain... help me understand

Thanks so much
Your question has made me rethink and I cancelled the stimulator and am going to see an orth surgeoun and get another mri. the last time i had one was 3 years ago and the pain is much worse so maybe they can help.
I have found the day to day pain has made my ability to fend for myself in this medical world very hard.
i really am confused as to what is and has gone wrong with my body. My blood tests have never shown much. my sed rate is high at 27 but thats not helpful and rheumotoid factor is negative.
the last few years have been a struggle and the pain has taken a toll. with all the meds i still cannot get pain under control
i hope that i can find an answer
thank you so much
