Massage Therapy Question!!

I started massage therapy two weeks ago. I was supposed to have four sessions, but they want to extend it for a couple of months. They keep on saying that they will fax my doctor for a new script, but when I ask they say that they are working on it. I do not want to continue going unless they get a new script, because insurance might not pay without it.

My actual problem is that I have been extremely sore after the appointments. When I tell them they say that it is usual to be sore for a couple of days afterwards, but I get sore for five or six days. I feel worst than I do before I started. They decided that they are going to do a ton of streatching instead and a little bit of massaging, but that is exactly what I was doing in PT. Also, my leg pain has came back (which I have not had for a month since my injection) and I have had pins and needles in my leg and foot (which I never had before). I do not know if I should continue or not and go to PT instead. What is everyone elses experience with massage therapy?

Re: Massage Therapy Question!!

My massage therapist is 6'3 and about 300. I like his strength, I need the painful pressure points to get my muscles loosened they are that bad tight. I am never in any more pain, it feels good to get loosened up. Sounds like you need a swedish massage therapist, one who will do soothing massage, nothing hard or painful. I have so much muscle pain I have to get the rough stuff. I have bruising on my back alot after I see him but it doesn't bother me. Tell them you want just swedish massage maybe? or find another therapist.
