Thumbs up what is your opinion on my docs info

I just got back from my Ortho re my 2 degen disc at l3-4, l4s1. I was asking him if ADR is an option for me, he says no! Also added that the 2 level is having very poor results in the clinical trials and he is doubtfull if it will be approved. has anyone heard anything else.
I am thinking of switching doctors and look for someone in Texas Back Ins ( i live in Dallas)
Anyone has any opinions, please lemme know

Re: what is your opinion on my docs info

It wouldn't hurt to get another opinion. However, I have been reading in a couple of places that the 2 level ADR is only having moderate success, requiring regular fusion in a couple of months. I know a lady who had a l level ADR and then they did a l level regular fusion. She just got out of the hospital so I don't have any details as yet, but she says she is doing very well at this point.

Good luck.

2 lami's, 3 fusions
bone spur removal
cerv. fusion, 1 level
morphine pump

I've really no 1st hand knowledge of the ADR.

Just wanted to welcome you to the boards.

Are your discs so degenerated as to require surgery now? or are you just weighing your options?

Re: what is your opinion on my docs info

Carol, BW & QC,
thank you for the quick replies. I suffered an injury while palying sports. The MRI showed 1 degen disc. Back then there was no ADR ( almost 5 yrs ago). As i have been in constant pain I have been on Effexor etc I decided to go and see what my options are when i heard ADR was availble in OCt 2004. My Ortho asked me to go for a discogram and it showed 2 level dd ( I was shocked). He has ruled me as not a case for ADR ( I am 35 yrs old with no prior surgery on my back!) He is just not impressed with ADR or fusion and reccomends I get by on pain mgmt and cortizone shots.
Maybe i shoudl see a spine specliast like you suggest.
