frustrated newbie!! arrgggh

Iíve had a bad case of degenerative joints in my middle back and a slightly bulging disk in my lumbar area. I havenít been to a doc in a while mostly because my back hasnít been that bad. Last time I went, a few years ago, there was no indication for surgery but the doc at the time prescribed a ďtlsoĒ?? brace for me to wear when I had a flare up. The good news is that Iíve lost a lot of weight but the bad news is, my brace no longer fits. Recently, I had an appointment with a new orthopedist because my other doc retired. I told him I would like to have a new brace made but he didnít seem to think it would help and wouldnít prescribe me one. I told him that during the flare up time it was the only thing that would make my back feel better. I guess it has something to do with not moving all that much. But now Iím stuck and he wants to do more physical therapy, something Iíve done already twice with no luck. Any suggestions? What could I do to get a new brace? or what should I do... This is do dang frustrating...
