    Re: What is Laminectomy ?

I am setting up an appointment with him, They called here yesterday, But I wasnt here. So I am going to call today. Yes I read his buisness card. My neurosurgeon's nurse called me yesterday, She told me she's going to set up a catscan for me and she wants me to come to his office on the 15th . She said everything looks ok back there but if your having pain with a broken screw the doctor will have to do somthing about it . But I am setting up an appointment to see your doctor just in case. Hey good luck with your hysterectomy , You'll be fine, My wife had it done about 15 years ago. She had alot of problems down there so she had no options. Dont you have any pain in your back? God I wish it would all go away, I am getting almost used to pain everyday I go for my 2nd round of facet injections Friday . They help a little, Like I told my chiro, Any relief is a winner to me. So sorry to jump back to another subject but when is your surgery date ? Good luck, I always enjoyed the shot to calm me down, Feels good...I'll keep you posted on whats goin on.

    Re: What is Laminectomy ?

Never mind the shot to calm me down---I like the one that puts me out! No I don't have any pain in my back. I'm aware there is something there but there is no pain. Maybe it has something to do with how bad the stenosis was---I could hardly walk and he cleared that up with the laminectomy. The fusion was secondary with me. My spine was unstable, grade 1-2 spondylolisthesis, but my off and on pain wasn't coming from that. A NS had told me I wasn't in enough pain. My OSS is the best thing that ever happened to me! My surgery Tuesday is going to be a biggie---they're taking everything out. Oh, Deb thanked me. I hope you follow through. He has no qualms about going in behind somebody.

No, I'm just a patient. Come on, she didn't even know right off who you were talking about. But I've been pointing out some typos on the website that is still under construction so we've had some extra contact. And they were among the first to know what I'm facing next week, because I was in there for a follow up visit.

39! You're the same age he is! Have you seen his picture? My one year anniversary is 6/15. I almost wish I could have another spine fusion instead of what I'm facing next week in Allentown. Take a list of questions or he'll be there and gone before you have a chance to think of any. Both of his nurses are nice.

Yeah, it's 50 miles from where I live. I'm not at all happy about going so far but I need a specialist. My gynecologist in the Hazleton Area said I need someone with bigger guns than she has. I'm 64 and it's cancer. But I'm scheduled for an outpatient belly button hysterectomy!!! My OSS is very upset. They have a vested interest in me/my fusion. I'm so glad I had the fusion when I did---I probably couldn't get it now.

    Re: What is Laminectomy ?

My God, I didnt know it was that serious. And here I am whining like a baby about my back. Well I hope they can get it all out while there in there. Im not much of a church person, But I do believe in GOD and all. I'll be praying for a quick recovery for you. I know now why your scared. I wish they would find a cure for cancer . Your surgery is on the 15th right ? I have to go for my catscan on Sunday..Do you believe that. The doctor told me to be at the hospital here where I live @ 10:30 for my scan. What does a catscan show ?

    Re: What is Laminectomy ?

I've had a couple of abdominal catscans but not for my spine. One of them showed my bladder was distended, over full, and I had a cyst on one kidney. And it showed that I didn't have an anuerism. What are they looking for? On a Sunday? My one-year fusion anniversary is 6/15. This surgery is on 6/14. If he is able to do the belly button technique I could be out the next day.

    Fly-

best of luck with your upcoming surgery! I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery.

how long were you in the hospital with your fusion, and how was your recovery? my spondy is only a level I-II, but the stenosis is severe, they are doing a TLIF, and said I'll be in the hospital 3-5 days. did you wear a brace? I'm a little nervous about not wearing one.

let us know how you do after your next surgery, my mom had it done years ago, and she is doing fantastic!!

    Re: What is Laminectomy ?

    kt,

I was in the hospital for 6 days, pneumonia etc., and then because I live alone I went to rehab for a couple of weeks. I never hurt bad and haven't been on any pain meds since I've been home. I had a laminectomy and a posterolateral, off-label, fusion from L3-S1 with BMP on sponges that were laid on either side of my spine. I also have 2 rods and 8 screws. everybody says that I was ahead of the curve, but the primary reason for my surgery was the severe stenosis---I could hardly walk. I wore a brace 24/7 for three months. I was driving at 6 weeks, and at 6 months VERY CAREFULLY, I was shoveling snow. I'm aware that there's something there but I have no pain. I hope you're as lucky as I was---I never even felt that I had been cut.

For my money CT films look the same as MRI films. I can't make heads or tails of either one. But I have a whole box full. For some reason they can't/won't make copies of x-rays. But I have everything else. What's in Pittsburg? I'm surprised PM let you out the door without a driver.

    Re: What is Laminectomy ?

I have every X-ray taken, And MRI's. And now I will have the CT. to. They will make copies of your X-rays. $3.00 a picture. But I tell the doctor I want them back, so they give them to me. My neurosurgeon wants to see me. He is out of Pittsburg. My PM doesnt know where or what I do. Besides, I dont take my meds until Bedtime. I can handle the pain ( most of the time ) during the day, Just at night its hard, Plus my wife is going with me. Its on wed. I thought it was Friday. Its about the same distance. From here to Berwick, and from here to Pitt. 2 hour drive. My CT scan looks bad, Looks like my disc slid further forward. My wife is scared for me. I dont get to scared, Whatever..Plus were not spine specialist, It may be fine . But looking at other X-rays and MRI's it looks worse...Thats our guess on things. But who are we.
