    DDD->SI->Hip pain?

    I will try to keep this short.

    I originally went for PT becuase I was having sciatic pain on the right and some other pain in my left side without any nerve pain. Making a long story short, had an MRI and found out I have DDD. I can live with that, it feels better now. My PT told me that my pain on the left was due to SI injury. I am not sure I am convinced of that!

    My problem now is that I have hip pain. It is in my hip joints, not from my DDD. My left hip actually feels loose in the joint. I feel it all the time, but it is rarely severe. I don't think I ever actually had pain in the SI area.

    Could the manipulations I had to "fix" my SI problem have injured my hips? I hate to think about having more issues than I already do. It is uncomfortable to walk and sit, and work is very hard for me because I have to do a lot of things from a squatting position.

    I have a recheck with my nurse practitioner this week and really want a hip MRI at least.

    THanks to you all!

    Unfortunately, yes, the manipulations could have caused another problem or exacerbated the original problem. When was your last MRI? It might be time to have another one done to check out those discs. I would urge you to make an appt with a spine specialist as it seems to me that it is time for a good workup with someone who is trained just for the back. Bad discs in the lumbar can cause hip pain, too. A nurse practitioner is just not the right person to be taking care of you at this point and could end up causing more problems in the long run.

    Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

    Carol
