    Lower back,leg and hip pain.

I've been living with this for about ten years now so I suppose I should start from the begining.
It's seemed to start for no reason at all, in other words there was no injury involved. It started on the lower left sided and progresses from there to my left glute then the left calve then the big toe. The big toe actually was numb for a while and the calve felt like a worm in there and fire of course. But the main point was the lower left side of my back. After about two years of living with that the pain went to my croch in my hips, after sitting for a while upon standing I could feel cracking and crunching in the croch area on the left side. It got to the point that I could hardly walk.
I was seeing my family Dr. the entire time, was xrayed and given pain pills, prednesone and a strong analgezic(sp) called cataflam.
Nothing worked and it seemed to go away on it's own. But still came back from time to time mostly in the summers.
Now I'm having another major flare up only this time it not the same now it seemed to be in the hips on both sides but mostly on the left. I'm still able to work because I have to but it's not easy. I'm on my feet all day and walking and it hurts like hell in my left hip every step I take. The pain is on the side where the leg bone meets the hip, and there is no cracking and crunching just pain when I stoop down I'm ok but when I stand if feels like my glutes are about to explode.
I was thinking it may be associated to a blood flow problem but I'm not sure, also with this new hip pain is a pain that is between my left shin and the muscle right beside it, the skin there is numb
For a while I thought it was the same old back pain but it's not because it too had made a reapearance.
The way both come and go seem like a blessing when I'm pain free. But there most be some thing bringing it on.
Alright, now from time to time I have bleeding hymroids(sp) which when it does bleed seems to bring on the back and hip pain. Thing is though there was no bleeding when this first started.
For the past two years it's only been the hips but now I have both the back and the hip pain.
Could this be caused by an infection? Something is cuasing it to come and go.
I can live with the back part, I have for a long time. It's the hips that are giveing me hell because I have to keep on keeping on.
I don't feel sick or weak only pain.

I'm at a loss as to what this is and apparently so is my Dr.

I also think your symptoms are bewildering. What diagnostic procedures have you had to determine what is going on.

This could have nothing to do with your back so it is important to get some kind of diagnosis. Do you suffer from any other conditions?

No, no other conditions. The only diognostic the Dr. did was send me to the hospital for xrays which showed nothing.
The back pain started around 1995 I had it bad for about two years then it slowly went away. But still had flare ups. And still do.
Now two years ago the hip pain started coming on slowly and got progresively worse but it too will go away and then come back later.
For now I'm dealing with both.
Maybe the first back pain is related to a different area on the spine.
Which is most likely the case.
I don't have any lung problems does that rule out TB? I hope so.
Could staph do this? As I do have an acne problem on my back.

An x-ray is almost useless in diagnosing what might be ailing you. I suggest strongly that you see a spine specialist and have an MRI done. You need to find out if you have any disc problems or possible bursitis.

Re: Lower back, leg and hip pain.

Bursitus can cause this? I Never knew that.
I've had bursitus in my shoulders since I was twelve, I always thought that was something old people got. But it's come and gone through the years.
I'm going to have to do some research on that.
What brings it on? The bursitus in my shoulders has never lasted more than three or fours days.
Hummm, that's about the same time I got acne which never really went away.
    I'm thinking it's staph.
How can I get rid of it?
I've been on anti biotic a few times and it cleared up the acne for a little while but it would always come back. Now that I'm older it seems to be gone for the most part except for a little on my back. It's nothing like it used to be anyway.
But still It's like I'm a walking pus bag. I bath daily yet.
I have cysts in my ear lobes (like pimples that don't go away) My facail pores are full of it even though I hardly ever get pimples.
My back has cysts ( One that I can feel) Hell I can simply rub my back and then sell my fingers and know that I'm rotten.
I even have it on the front of my thighs but they seem to be dry even so there are still little red... bumps? that look like dried out erupted boils. But they are very small.
I don't feel sick though. Probably because I've never know anything else since I was twelve.
Any recommendations? I don't have any insurance and the docs won't do any thing for me with out it. I'm not quite poor alright.
I just bought a spool of 99.999 % pure silver to make my own coloidail silver with for baths.
Do you think this will help?

Re: Lower back, leg and hip pain.

The way you are describing the pain/symptoms ( originating in your lower back, into the hip and down into the calf and big toe), it sounds like it could be a problem with your sciatic nerve.
The sciatic nerve runs down the spine and exits at the base of the spine. From there it goes down both the right and left leg. Into the thigh, and from there the nerve splits and continues running down into the calf/foot.
If you have an impingement on this nerve it cause those exact problems. Especially the tingling and numbness and of course the pain.
An x-ray may not show the problem but an MRI might.

Not quite sure who those last 2 posts were directed at. If it was me (glenl), I didn't mean to offend anyone. Sorry you may have felt that way.
    Just trying to help.

No, I wasn't offended at all.
The cat was bugging me and I forget what I was going to say.
    I appreciate your advise.
My brother in law was telling me yesterday about a place for lower income people that will do the work for only 25% the actual cost which is very good. He got an mri done there this morning for a shoulder injury. I'm going to have to look to see what's available in my area I'm tired of living with this.

    Thanks for the help.

Try spinal decompression. I had similar symptoms. My right foot went numb, my calf and hamstring would tighten up. This because my L5 was pinching a nerve. I'm alot better now thanks to the decompression combined with some PT. Just be patient. I've been being treated for almost 4 months now and going 5x a week to the doctor.

Re: Lower back, leg and hip pain.

Hello I am a newbie here suffering from severe back pain and neck pain. I had surgery in 2000 and have had two mri's recently and a discogram. Says something about collapsed disc and spondolysis? They are talking about a fusion at the L5 s1 level anyone else out there have this problem. I have been out of work for a month and the pain is terrible it affects everything. Any advice and thank you.
