    Re: Questions about transforaminal injections

I won't be much help, but I had a TFESI yesterday at Left L4 and L5 nerve roots, and also at right L5. I can't tell you about any relief yet b/c it's too soon to tell. I will tell you that I was completely sedated. I was totally asleep with heavy conscious sedation and was woken up in the recovery room. My back was excruciatingly painful last night, but is somewhat better today. I'm really sore and my legs are flared up in pain, but hopefully that'll subside soon. It's similar to a regular ESI except the approach is different. They go in beside the nerve roots to get the meds right in the nerve root area in hopes that will help more than a traditional ESI. Good luck if you decide to do it!

Thanks Shawley!! These did nothing for me at all. I'm scheduled for a repeat at bilateral S1 on the 26th. If those don't help, I'm done. No use doing them if they don't help. I couldn't tell any relief at all honestly.

    Re: Questions about transforaminal injections

Katina , a doctor/chiropractor told me in my case the shots are worthless and that he can't believe my PM Dr. would even consider doing it.

I'm not going to go through with it now, I might try the spinal stimulator ??
Then again I don't want to look deformed or worry about ripping wires loose.
I read to many horror stories about the stim..

    Good luck on your problem

Ah, I can't say I blame you. They don't always work anyway. I wouldn't be able to do the stim either. With two rowdy boys, they'd probably rip them out of me. LOL Good luck with it if you decide to try it!
