Thumbs up Re: TENS unit for numbness/foot pain, anyone???

I have begun using a TENS unit that was originally prescribed for my rt. knee following 5 surgeries and a bout with RSD. Once the RSD subsided (believe it or not...) I put it in a closet.

For 6 months, now, I have been having 7-8 level pain from my leftside buttock down the left leg. A MRI discovered a disc protrusion at L5-S1. So I pulled out the TENS unit and started using it as a pain management alternative to meds. It works great at busying-up the sciatic nerve so no pain messages are received in the ol' brain. The down-side is that as soon as I turn it off the pain slowly creeps back in.

I recommend TENS for periodic pain management. It's not addictive or dangerous as pain meds., but jeez uses up a lot of 9-volt batteires as you try to stay on top of your pain receptors.
