Back Problem - Pain in Right Side - What is it?

My back pain is in right side - great if someone has some new ideas.

I have tried Osteopath, Chiropractor, Physio, Accupuncture, Bowen Technique, Massage, Back Surgeon, Pain Consultant and still no luck.

    Here's the story:

3 years ago lay in bed a lot on the internet laptop.

Then had acute back pain very painful. That was ok after a few weeks.
Then few months later pain came back - not very painful but chronic.

Have had MRI and back is fine mechanically no disc problems etc

Have had steroid injection in back, facet joint injections and trigger point
    injections but no luck.

Diagnosis not known - indeed they dont really know until its ok.

My pain is not really a back pain, its a throbbing in my right side in the
same area as show on the photograph.

Am waiting on having Isotope Bone Scan which may show up bone inflammation and identify facet joints possibly.

There is a lot of muscle spasm in the affected area. This could be getting
caused by inflammed facet joints. The injections may have got the wrong ones or may have missed the spot.

Have gone to another osteopath who is now massaging that sore are on my right side so we will see what happens, also he is getting me to stretch.

Exercise always make me worse - i tried abdominal strenghen exercises etc

And swimming is no good either.

    Walking is best.....

So if you have any ideas or know a brilliant back specialist please let me
    know!

Have been thinking of going somewhere overseas eg India where tests are quick and cheap..

Hate to tell you this but you want to get checked for Kidney stones, especially as the pain is unilateral and on the side. I was daignosed with "unknown" back problems for 3 1/2 years until they inadvertently found three stones.

Hey Jaguar... sorry to hear of ur pain... You may want to take a look at a spine instute in Germany. They are supposedley one of the top institutes in the world & offer free consultation via the internet... just a thought. In the short term, I would try a spine/back clinic & try a physicist (sp?) who specializes in the workings of the spine. Also deep massage & maybe prescript muscle relaxants at night so you can sleep.

Good luck & keep us posted... Dave!

I am doing some postural exercises called the "egoscue method." They're not for fitness, they're to straighten me out. I had an analysis done by a certified practitioner and he gave me about 8 exercises to do in sequence. I feel that it is helping me feel less crooked and hasn't made anything worse.

Maybe check it out and see if it would be useful to you. Egoscue is a man who developed this theory and exercises that are based on anatomy and kinesiology.

I have seen lots of different types of practitioners myself. One thing I liked about this program is that I don't have to keep going back for $75 visits 3x week!

Best of luck in your search.
