Re: SI-Joint & facet joint degeneration and pain

Hi! I, too, have arthritis in my facet joints and SI joints-I totally sympathize with your pain! For me the best pain control has been from the facet rhizotomy (nerve burning). I have had the facet injections and they did not last too long. The nerve burning lasts longer (for me about 8 months). They burn the pain nerves that serve the facet joints. It does not get rid of the arthritis, but the pain is so much less! For my SI joints, I do get injections, which have been lasting about 2 months. In fact, I am going tomorrow to get them done. I wish the injections would last longer! Other things that help me are icing, sitting in the hot tub, TENS machine, and sitting on a wedge shaped pillow (I bring it with me where ever I go, and it helps cushion the SI joints). Also, I take Ultram when the pain is bad. I sleep mostly on my side, with a little pillow between my knees, or on my back with a big pillow under my legs. The facet/SI pain can get really bad-I lie down periodically to rest my back, and try not to sit for too long. Hope that helps! Kera4
