    Bulging Disc

I hope someone can give me some information on this Bulging Disc situation that my husband is facing on the lower cervical disc . He had a herniaed disc on the sixth cervical disc last year in the next , now this is the bulging disc on the lower back . He is having PT and seens to be helping some , but has tingling in the legs and back pain .

What type of surgery is done for this ? Laser or lopocic (can't spell the word ) Anyone can help , this will be apprecated .

    Thanks so much,

    Re: Bulging Disc

Has your husband seen a spine specialist or had a MRI done? Could you provide more info? It sounds like possibly some nerve involvement when the leg or foot is involved.

    Re: Bulging Disc

He had not been to a spine spealist yet . Going back to the Neursurgeon soon. He had an MRI whiched showed the bulging disc in the lower back . He lost some feeling in legs when he had the hernaided disc in the neck area , but some has come back. What a mess this is . Thanks for your help so far

    Re: Bulging Disc

Which disc is bulged in the lower back? Is the disc in his neck area going into the spinal cord to involve the lower limbs? My legs get numb and have severe pain in both legs and the feet. Buttock also has pain, along with the lower back. I have damage to nerves that are entrapped from L3 to S1. I have had a double fusion already of L4-S1. From the C1(I believe) to the T12 there is a spinal cord. Then from L1 to the S3 you have individual nerves going in what they call the cauda Equina (horses tail). These nerves go to different areas of your lower body. Usually the cervical nerves go to your upper limbs and the lower go to your legs. Possibly it was the lower disc that was involving the leg and not the neck one. PT can help with bulging disc some times. He can get an EMG (nerve test) to see what nerves are involved. I wouldn't rush into surgery right away until you see if PT or something less invasive will help all his issues.
