Re: Has anyone had a decompressive lumbar laminectomy?
Lisa,
I had this procedure on Jan 5. Unfortunatly mine was not successful. It may be due to the fact of having multi-level lami's, he also performed a full laminectomy, rather than partial. Also removed parts of my facet joints on upper levels and ligaments associated with all levels. I was hesitant to post, because of the poor results for me.
However, this procedure is highly successful. Alot of people have experienced tremendous pain relief from it. Just follow your doctors instructions to a T. Are you having an instrumented fusion along with the laminectomy? There will be normal post-op pain, it will be extremly difficult to move around. They will have you get up and walk your first day - but the more you walk - the better you feel and the sooner you can go home.
Good luck - will be praying for a successful outcome.
