Dynesys® Dynamic Stabilization System...experiences anyone?

I know back in 2005-07 there were problems with screws and cords stretching.
My neuro says they've fixed those issues.I'm ready to schedule surgery but would like some input from people who have actually had this procedure or know someone who has.
I'll be getting 2 levels done.

I'm sorry no one has responded to your post. I know there were several people on here who were talking about lawsuits against the company...but maybe they aren't around now.

Have you consulted with more than one spine surgeon? It is always a good idea to get several opinions, particularly when you are thinking about one of the newer techniques. Obviously there is no long-term data on the Dynesys system, as it hasn't been implanted in people long enough to know what the outcomes may be down the road.

I agree that on paper it all sounds very enticing...but I wonder how many problems people have with "lack of motion" with a standard fusion. I'm fused from L3 to S1 with rods and pedicle screws...and maybe I am unique, but I don't notice any difference in my back. I'm just as flexible as I always was...I guess I cannot twist as far to the side as I did when I was younger, but I haven't noticed it being detrimental in any way.

It's hard to know where to look to find good information on whether these updates have fixed the early problems, or if there are new problems that have been created. Of course, any press releases coming from the company are all to your surgeon, he can't say what the track record for the newly designed system is yet either....

So I guess it will boil down to whether you want to take your surgeon's word for it, or go with a more proven form of fusion.
