Stiff lower back problems

Hi all,

Since I started deadlifting (trial a gym where it has free weights for this), I've started getting lower back pain. The trial was only for about 2 weeks, so I deadlifted maybe 4 times in that period. I'm not new to the gym, so I think I had good form and my back was strong enough to go heavy on the lifts. That was about 2 weeks ago and I've still got the pain, which I feel when I bend down.

Also, when I walk, my back gets really stiff, so when I tilt my hips forward, it cracks. Note that I can crack my back like this then literally 2 mins later I can do it again. This has been going on for years, maybe I just have a stiff back. I sit at a desk a large chunk of the day, but I exercise 4-5 times a week.

Reckon anyone has advice?

Re: Stiff lower back problems

I just saw this here and its exactly what I registered for. I just started doing kettlebells and intensive muscle training the last month. I took a week off there and for about a week and a half ive got this dull presence in my lower back, tension/ discomfort in my thighs and the odd tension in my legs. Normally I'd expect a little muscle reaction but not this long and I still have to shift around at my desk like you in order to dispell the discomfort. I know I didnt really give you a solution but I suppose if you knew it happened to someone else. The last few days ive been trying the stretchs we do after training like yoga etc it works sometimes but thats all I got so far bud.

Re: Stiff lower back problems

I did kettlebells once or twice in that period, so it's possible the pain came from that....I guess rest is your best friend, my back is feeling better. Guess we just need to watch our form and stretch in the future.
