Angry how do you dye over already-dyed-black-hair?

OMG, ok i dyed my hair black about a month ago and i really liked it but my roots are showing now and so i wanted to go back to my natural color, which is brown. i tried to dye it tonight but all the dye did was change the color of my roots and it did nothing at all to the rest of my hair. i figured something like this might happen since i have heard that black is very hard to get out. well i was thinking about bleaching it and then dying it but i'm not sure about that. that's all i can think of though... any ideas or advice would be much appriciated!

you're gonna have to get it bleached. Leave it to a professional.

definitely go to a salon, especially if your hair is longer then shoulder length. i've done so many coloring mistakes at home and all it did was fry my hair.

I just got through doing that. I had dyed my hair jet black and it took me 5 months to get it all out. I had to have it stripped bleached then colored. I just now got it to a color that i dont have to mess with anymore.

But definitely go to a salon. I got charged 150.00 to do mine. But I used L'oreal Feria. And it has a lot of metallic in it. Which is virtually impossible to get out. But it did come out...but it took money, and time.

Definitly go to a professional!! (Unless you want to lose all your hair).
We can really mess it up badly by doing it at home.
    Good luck!
