    Hair down "there"

I hope this is the right section for this question:

I was just wondering a few things about women and maintaing the hair down south. I shave but not all of it. But then I hate the stubble that's there the next day and it's hard to shave it. What does everyone else do? Someone just told me that landing strips are for porn stars and I've been doing that for years... so now I think I'm a freak!!! How much hair down there is the norm? And do you wax, shave, nair, etc. I'm going on a beach vacation for a week and don't want to have to shave every day but I'm afraid to get a wax job.
    Opinions, suggestions?!

Its up to you how much you want to take off, or leave on, or even if you want any special shapes or whatever. Theres not really a certain way anyone has to do it. It depends on what you want. As far as taking it off, I say waxing, because like you said, it grows back too fast then it hurts to try to shave it again. At least with waxing you get about a week of no hair then it starts to gow back, eventually slower and slower. It does suck to have to wait for it to grow back long enough to rewax it. The better the wax you have, the easier and less painful to do it. I use Gigi, its really great stuff, takes alll the hair off in the area you apply it, and doesnt seem to stick you your skin, especially if you put baby powder on it beforehand. Just makes it less uncomfortable.

I shaved for a little while, it was nice to try it. But that hair grows back with a vengeance and I found that shaving all was impractical to say the least. I use a beard trimmer and just go real short now. If I was to wear a bathing suit I would wax the sides though.

you better wax it so it will look cleaner & brighter thatn when you shave it. I used to use topical anesthesia to decrease the pain accompanied by waxing, it makes it less as you are waxing your legs, I cant do waxing without it. Its main component is Lidocaine.

Good Luck & have a nice vaccation

I've been shaving everything since before the dinosaurs It's really a personal thing...if you shave you should shave daily just as you do your legs. If you don't shave daily then you'll get bumps. Really and truely I think it depends a lot on what your SO wants. But this day and age, I don't think you can go wrong with shaved but it pretty much seems that anymore, the a la natural look is out of style. But I've not had luck with waxing...I get bumps bad after waxing!

If the problem with waxing is that you get pumbs, you can directly after waxing wash the area with sea salt dissolved in water. Dont wash with the tap water until the next day. keep the area dry always & put baby powder (perfume-free one) after every wash for the first 3 days. When I do this I dont get a single pumb.

I have to inquire, IYLF, where does one get the time to shave down there every day, along with armpits and legs and whatever all else we do to care for and enhance our appearances?! I work, I have a pet and a household to maintain, hobbies, and apart from those, I like to have some kind of life away from the shower and the bathroom mirror.

What if the hair is there for some reason not yet totally understood? I suppose it wouldn't do any good to add here that thick, healthy, shiny pubes are a sign of vigor in a woman.

I could live in parts of Europe where female body hair is not met with disgust and shock. But I don't, I live here, so I shave my legs, pits, and pluck above my upper lip religiously because we know any trace of that hair on a woman is totally unacceptable.

I can't be a total slave to my appearance or style, I guess. And any SO better like me intimately the way I like myself.

    Hi

Hope you dont mind me adding to the post. I am curious about waxing too! I am off on a beach holiday in April but will be going on a 2 week city holiday beforehand.
How long would waxing last? If I did it before I went on city holiday, would it still last for beach holiday?
    Does it hurt lots?
    Thanks!

I shave in the shower everyday...it adds a whole extra probably 30 seconds to shaving my legs. Why would it take any longer than 30 seconds...you just soap up with bar soap and shave...it's about a forth of a square foot total shaving area...if that!

Oh yeh it hurts a lot honestly. That's why I can't wax without the local anesthesia B/C that area is full of nervous supply. The time the waxing would last depends on your genes that control the hair growth rate. But I think it's gonna last for two weeks then it will start to show up.

Timed myself soaping up, shaving the bikini line about 6 inches down and all the way up to shaving the "treasure trail"(can't have that!) it took me a whole 17 seconds!

Fatoom, do you get the waxing done in a salon or do you do it by yourself? Due to timing of vacations and time of that month, I dont think I am going to get to a salon to get it done, if I do it before, it would have grown back by the time I get to the beach! So I am thinking of maybe doing it myself. I tried once, and didnt have the courage, I ended up getting in the bath to soak the wax strips off! lol! If anyone does do it themselves, any tips please? Thank you!!

Its different for everyone I believe. I felt that when I shave before I ever waxed, it started to grow back quicker and thicker, even on my legs. I have researched about hair removal by waxing and in most cases whoever wrote about it said that it will start to grow back at a slower pace with each time you wax. I think you hair fines out a little too!

IYLF, you sound very efficient with your beauty routine. When I did my shaving phase, my hair is so strong and really grows way up the inside edge of my labia majora that I had to lay down in the bathtub with a hand mirror gingerly avoiding my labia minora. Which I was scared to death to of nicking. Strong hair and tender, very moveable skin.

And if I sound like I went on a soapbox, it's because past bf #1 wanted me shaved and had me do it the same night I was trying to cook a gourmet meal for the two of us. Then bf #2 seemed to prefer au naturel and said the shaved thing "startled him."

I may shave again in the future for something different and for the neat bare feeling but not under pressure and plus anyway, I have a bikini c-section scar. I think too, that shaving after a period of having hair makes it all the more bare-feeling and sensitive for me, so more fun to alternate.

    Thanks.

Sorry it takes you so long to shave...I guess I've been doing it for 30 years....just stand in the shower with one leg up, move things around with my fingers and shave away I've personally not met a man that didn't like shaven but I have not been with very many men but have heard EX husband's friends talk about it(they were a wild bunch!). I do know that I've heard them say they thought the "landing strip" look was dumb looking. I think it's a Playboy magazine "thang". I think you should invest in a good 3 blade disposable shaver...you won't knick anymore! And definitely when you go from not shaving to shaving, it's going to feel sensitive at first. I'd say it takes a week to get used to it.
