    Cyclothymic Disorder & Prozac?
    I was diagnosed with Cyclothymic Disorder today and prescribed Prozac. Did some reading just so I could familiarize myself with it and know as much as I could, and ran across quite a few things (Message boards, websites, etc.) that suggested that I should be on a mood stabilizer in addition to Prozac as it could worsen hypomanic symptoms. Should I be? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

    Hi Squiddly,

    Cyclothymia tends to present with mainly depressive episodes which Prozac will given time and the correct dosage hopefully help with. I would have thought but something you should mention to the DR if it doesn't improve then they'll start you on a mood stabilizer as well.

    all drugs that aim to help with mental health disorders can make things worse as well so don't get to hung up on the fact Prozac could worsen hypomanic symptoms, if your one of the people it does then mention to the DR and things can always be changed.
