Cool lamotrigine for biplar type 2

    Hello all,

I was recently diagnosed with Bipolar type 2. My mood swings got that rapid they could change in a few hours from mania to depressed. My current medication is 5x 25mg Quetiapine(Seroquel) which seems to be keeping me at a good 'normal' level with the odd feelings of low due to hormones around my menstrual cycle

My GP has suggested I see a psychiatrist regarding my medication and suggested lamotrigine. Does anyone currently use this medication? I was wondering on the effectiveness for both mania and depressive cycles and if there were any harsh side effects experienced?

I know I'm months later, but would love to know where you ended up? This is the regiment I'm starting.

I have been on Lamotrigine for about two years now. It leveled out my rapid mood changes, but didn't help with my depression. Its main purpose of mood stabilizing was successful. **Make sure you titrate like they tell you to, just incase you have that bad reaction. The pills are pretty big and can get stuck in your throat if you don't swallow them quickly. Sometimes this happens and it will give me acid reflux if I take it directly before trying to go to sleep.
Hope this helps and I wish you luck!
