Question Borderline Personality Disorder?

So I went to my Dr today (gasp!) and he tells me he doesnt think I am bipolar because I am not exactly manic, then he went on to give me examples of manic patients. He thinks I have borderline Personality disorder.

I have no clue what this is!!
Are they related are similar at all??

Could he possibly be wrong?

Can someone help me out with info or links???

This is all so foreign to me!!

Re: Borderline Personality Disorder?

Several things come to mind. First I have heard of people going to 5 different doctors and getting 5 different diaz.

Second Bipolar can be a very hard disorder to diaz and some people never have but a 1 or 2 actual manic episodes, but are more prone to hypomania, it's less severe. Symptoms can ranged from high aggitation and irritability to feeling europhic, like your high, giddy, overly silly, talking fast and a lot, some people have discribed it like being on crack.

Third you could do a online search for Personality disorder or hypomania. As far as being similiar, I could nt say. Or if your interested in learning about Personality Disorder there is a board for it here. Happy Valentines Day, K

Re: Borderline Personality Disorder?

I think that the best way to describe borderline personality disorder is "I hate you! Don't leave me" It is very complicated and does deal with highs and lows, separations and wanting to be close to others. Ask your doctor about it. I dont know too much about it. Sounds like a good doctor to show you manic cases though. Seems to be helping you think for yourself. ~Libby

Re: Borderline Personality Disorder? is a good website. BP and BPD both have similar traits. It is not uncommon to be BP and have traits of BPD. You do not have to have all of them. With bipolar, you can have hypomanic episodes.
Good luck and God Bless! Hope some of this helps you.
