Iv taken both. Im on depakote right now along with invega. Iv never used depakote by itself. The good thing about depakote is you dont have to take it with food, but you do w/ geodon. On depakote, I gain a little weight each month (maybe a pound or two), but I could easily avoid that i think if i ate better and excercised more. On geodon, i didnt gain any weight. The thing i didnt like about geodon is it made me extremely tired after I took it. Since you have to take it w/ food, I would take it with dinner and I would litteraly be exhausted an hour later. My sleep schedule was like go to bed at 7 or 8 and wake up at 4 in the morning. It was terrible. On depakote, my sleep schedule is much more normal. Both did a pretty good job of managing my symptoms. Right now im very happy on depakote and invega. I take 3 mg of invega in the morning and 1500mg of depakote at night.
