The day after a night of heavy drinking, I have severe manic symptoms. Does this happen for anyone else? What could the cause be? It's easy enough to prevent by avoiding alcohol, but I find it unsettlingly counter-intuitive and can't find any information about it happening to anyone else online. Thanks for any responses!

Re: Hangover-induced mania
I believe this has happened to me. All doctors say is that alcohol is a depressant but in the past it has made me feel awesome. Many times I wouldn't have a hangover and I'd just be in a great mood. I don't drink anymore because that great feeling can become agitated and angry also. I haven't felt manic since I stopped drinking. It's been 3 years. Still get depressed and maybe hypomanic? Hope this helps

Re: Hangover-induced mania
I had this problem once before too. It put me in the hospital. Now I just try not to drink to the point of getting drunk. Also if I know I'm going to drink, I will try to skip one of my doses of meds (the one closest to when I start drinking). Its so true that psyc meds and alcohol don't go good together.
