Best type of Birth Control?

Hello all,
I would like to go on a form of birth control and have my consultation appointment on the 14th. I have worked very hard the past 6 months to lose weight and be fit. I have succeeded and I don't want to undo my hard work. I have been thinking of the pill but I have heard that it will make you gain weight and suppress your sexual desire. My friend was on birth control when she was younger and swears up and down that it made her gain weight. I don't want either of those to happen. I figure if I continue to eat right and exercise then I shouldnt gain weight? To those that have experience with the pill, have you had either of these problems? I have a history of UTIs so having something inserted makes me nervous. But I don't want my desire to be less. I'm happy with how it is. I'm just looking for a safer method then condoms.

Re: Best type of Birth Control?

I've been on birth control pills since I was 15 and now I'm 38....and I will tell you all pills will vary for everyone differently as far as side effects go.

I was on Tri Nesaa for many years and everything was fine til in June-July of 2009 I literally put on 30lbs in those 2mo and of course got off it immediately and my dr summed it to hormonal change..

Talk to your dr about low dose pills and pills that are supposed to help with weight..

I've been on Loestrin(Microgestin) and Alesse (Lutera) and had no issues with weight gain but got off them due to other side effects like bad headaches. I'm now back on Yasmin(Zarah) and so far so good.

Goodluck and you'll know if a pilll isn't working for you but they say to give it alteast 3mo before you switch.
