Stroke Victim: My Love and Life Story

Thank you very much, Sunsetnan, for your encouragement, suggestions for exercise and positive outlook in life. Thank you, too, for believing there's God who can carry me toward recovery when I have faith.

By the way, can you suggest any particular exercises in the face (I do the a-e-i-o-u)? How can I use a rubber band?

Please do keep in touch when you have time. God bless us!

Sorry to hear of your health problems. It's good that you have some emotional support. I also had a stroke- a brain stem stroke at 45, although it never effected my speech.

All I can tell you is to keep working your muscles. My physical therapist said not to listen to the statistics about getting only 80% function back. She said to just keep on working.

If you can't afford light weights, you can use soup cans. I did, and they work just fine. The physical therapists gave me the rubber bands I was using for arm strengthening to take home. I did facial exercises in the mirror every morning. I sat on a big ball to get my balance back. Now, five years later, I still have some remaining problems but I'm told that you can't even tell that I had a stroke.

Have every faith that God will be with you every step of the way on your journey towards recovery.
    Best Wishes,
    Sunsetnan
