I had surgery on one finger for Dupurytrens Contracture. That's is a arthritic disease where the cords in the palm to the fingers thicken and pulls the fingers into a fist.

After the first surgery on one finger it flared up all the other fingers and they are curved inward deformed and frozen.

Then a dr. That treats DC with needle aponeurectomy. This is where the hand is injected to block pain and a needle is used to break up the thickened tendon...

Today I start my blog. Something I think will help me get my thoughts out. I was involved I a drunk driving accident in March of 1989. We we're hit by a drunk driver and I was the only survivor. I suffered multiple injuries, many of which were to my legs. Fast forward to 2007. I started to have a great deal of pain in my right ankle. Saw a podiatrist and that is when I was told the severity of the arthritis in my ankle. I was also told that I would be looking at either a replacement or a fusion...

Last week, I had my sixth orthopedic surgery in 16 years, on an ankle (the others were on knees and a wrist). I'm required to be nonweightbearing for some period of time. I thought that by posting some coping strategies, both before and after surgeries, my experiences might help some others here.

Knee Surgeries

I was running two weeks after the surgery, slowly, but it went down hell after that. A few years later, in 2002 I had another meniscus repair done. The recovery went haywire when I suddenly could not physically straighten out my leg. Someone else could straighten it, I just couldn't do it under my own control. It never...

I am so sick and not sleeping

I've been very sick with many diseases and disorders for quite awhile. I am so sick and not sleeping, evidently due to this hyperthyroidism whose cause hasn't been established. I'm intelligent, but I sound like I'm not when I lack sleep.

I was diagnosed with psoriasis, Hepatitis C, psoriatic arthritis, Type 2 Diabetes, Cirrhosis (from the Hep C) and my doctor has told me my thyroid is overactive, but he's given no real diagnosis on that yet. I'm tired of feeling crappy.
