Test Anxiety

Posted 04-24-2012 02:31 PM by hammerofthor

Back in November, I had unprotected sex. He was a military guy, so naturally, I thought he was clean. We only performed the deed once, and then we both went on about our business. Fast forward to today, I'm a nervous wreck waiting for my test results. Early March, I got a UTI. It was the first one I'd had in years, so I knew something wasn't quite right. I went to my local clinic to get tested for the more common STIs, and in the process, the nurse tested me for HIV. That's when the panic set in. I started searching for all the possible symptoms of HIV, and turns out, I had experienced some of the symptoms. However, I know HIV isn't something you can self-diagnose, and since my encounter was one time, then it is considered a lower risk. Still a risk though. Another thing that worries me is that I have a serious boyfriend now. We only have protected sex, but he could still get infected if I truly am. That's the part that's got my stomach in knots. It's one thing if it's just me, but I don't think I could live with myself if I got him sick. I get my results back on the 30th, and I'm hoping and praying for good news. I fairly confident that I'll be fine, but if any of you read this, please send some good vibes. There's also more people going through this, so be sure to send them some too. I'll update after I get my results. Later - L
