This is the beginning of the Story of My Non- Healing Wound. It goes back to the very beginning of the wound, from it's very small size to what it became.

It is really a story of me, my poor decisions, my failure to act, my running away, and my continual inability to face reality.

This is my personal story. It is in no way a plan of action for others.

Story of my Wound - Accomplishment - Knitting

Posted 12-11-2014 05:00 AM by RABG

What an odd title, what does it mean? For me knitting gives me pleasure, a sense of worth, a goal, and then accomplishment.

I have been knitting for almost 40 years and in that time I have had my own business, designed endless Christmas stockings, knit for others, and then finally for me.

I quickly learned from my PD waiting room that so many people are defined by their pain or condition. I decided that wasn't for me. I had to have something that would give me a sense of worth. For me it is knitting but it could be anything that took me outside my pain.

Reading was of no help at all. I would read a sentence or two then pain would overwhelm me and I put the book down.

Audio books however would prove to be a godsend. They are my sleeping aide, I really don't understand why. During the day I use them for pleasure, during the night I use them to help me sleep.

Listening to books are vital to my knitting. That sounds crazy but it's true. Knitting , just knitting can be boring to the extreme. If combined with a book I feel like I have accomplished two things.

I am beginning to sound preachy so I will end it here. I rather have friends ask" what are you knitting, crocheting, baking, cooking, writing, painting, drawing, beading, stamping, then how is the pain"
