Lupus, Fibromyalgia and overworking...

Posted 06-16-2010 08:50 AM by Sunsetnan

Well, the food diary didn't last very long. I quit about half day. Started feeling poorly this evening. I made spaghetti, and thought I would try out the whole wheat organic variety. It tasted fine, but looked a bit strange. But, even my picky eater swallowed it down without so much as a word. I guess the sauce hid the color. Next time, I might try pulverizing carrots or some other vegetable and hiding it in the sauce. That's one way to get veggies in my kids!

Later, I started feeling bad, had more hot flashes and some heart palpitations. I checked my blood sugar and was amazed to read the meter. My husband couldn't believe it read "26." I felt bad, but not that bad. Later, we laughed when I realized it read "92." I had the meter upside down, lol.

Hoping to do some stress reduction homework today as tomorrow is the class. (And I complain when my kids procrastinate with their homework!)

My rib gave me some trouble yesterday. I injured it when turning in bed about 6 months ago or so. At the time I injured it, the pain resembled the times I fractured my ribs, but the x-ray proved otherwise. It has taken a long time to heal, and I may have re- injured it when I mowed the lawn yesterday.

Yes, I mowed the lawn. It was a tactic to shame my family for letting it get to looking so bad. My husband claims he has been really busy, and my son thinks that just because he has a Summer job that he doesn't have to do any chores, so I mowed it. My face was bright red with sweat dripping down and speckled with grass when I finished. I'm not supposed to be exposed to the sun with my Lupus, so I put on sunscreen and a hat. Well, sunscreen, in combination with sweat, makes a good glue for flying grass. I nearly looked like I had been tar and feathered!

Maybe I over-did and that's why I felt poorly last night; that in combination with the higher carb meal. I also fixed the ice machine and patched a hole my son accidentally kicked in the wall. I'd had enough waiting for the men in the family to fix them. I am woman, I am super repair- woman! I can slap on the sunscreen, mow the lawn, fix the ice machine, patch a hole, and fix a nutritious dinner all in one day! Actually, that was against everything I should be doing. I should be taking it easy, staying out of the sun, and doing my stress reduction homework.

I'll try and pace myself today, or I'll end up sick again, and that would be much worse for everyone. Well, those are my thoughts for the day. Hope everyone is doing well, and hanging in there.
Best Regards,
Nan
