Taking BP for patient with double mastectomy

Question Taking BP for patient with double mastectomy

How can you take someones BP if they have had a Double mastectomy? Can anyone explain the negative effect of the arm cuff on a person with a mastectomy? THANX- VE

hi there i was always taught to take it on the arm of the non affected side but with a double i have had to get the obese cuff and take around the thigh. I have had to do for pts whose arms are sensitive or bruise easily hope this helps. There are also finger blood pressure kits you can purchase machines can differ ten points or so good luck to you.
