Fatigue, pain, low white blood cell count, upcoming surgery
EDIT: Maybe blood disorders is not the right place for this! Because this is just a low count, not a disorder. I reposted under General Health instead, please feel free to delete this post :-) Sorry for any trouble.

Hi, I am new here - sorry to start out with a question but hope someone can help :-)
I am due to have surgery soon, for an ongoing leg problem. Had to have a blood test beforehand...got the results yesterday and doctor wants me to come back tomorrow due to low white blood cell count. Didn't give me any details.
Over the past month, I have been way more tired than usual....sleeping a lot, muscle aches, mouth sores, regular sore throats, etc, and just plain not feeling good. I figured it was stress. Is it possible for stress to cause a low white blood cell count?
Also - doctor says I may not be able to have the surgery due to the low count. I really want to have it done! There is hardware in my leg causing pain, and the surgery will remove it. Are there things I can do to raise my white blood cell count? And could it fluctuate enough to be normal on a second test?
Thanks for any help :-)
