    Constipated

Lately I've had very hard and difficult to pass stools. They won't even flush - it's like trying to make a small baseball bat go down the drain. My diet and activity level haven't had any major changes or has my medications except that I am now using Latanoprost eye drops once a day. I tried using Docusate and Smooth Move senna tea for relief, but they didn't make any difference. Any other suggestions?

What is your diet like in general? Fibre supplements can be added to bulk/fluff the stool, improve peristalsis, etc.
Adding fruits and more fibrous veggies can help as does good fluid/water intake.

Have you considered seeing a GI doctor? Your digestive tract is critically important and this kind of discomfort can drive you crazy. Talk to a gastroenterologist about your issues- they will probably want to do a stool test to make sure that you dont have absorption issues.

    Re: Constipated

I did see my gastroenterologist recently. I told him what was happening. He did some blood and scanning tests and all that was out of normal was SGOT that was SLIGHTLY elevated. He also determined that I have NAFLD am mild GERD.

As to my diet, I can't eat much fresh fruit or veggies, they aggravate my GERD. I eat mostly cereal, sandwiches and casseroles, but that is nothing new. Being constipated is.

Add fibre supplements with meals. If your interested, i can explain how I do it.

You can add veggies to casseroles, use whole grain and higher fibre pastas, consume enough protein.

The issue with what you're eating is that it's not enough bulk and doesn't exercise the colon. It's a lazy organ and needs to be encouraged.

Add fibre sources such as veggies and fruits in smaller amounts, and include them with meals rather than separately.
