non-painful fissure?

Had a GI consult, have scope on Thurs, dr thinks the bleeding and slight burning/itching is a fissure. Thought fissures were extremely painful?? Only have burning or tearing feeling when the stool is hard or sometimes throbbing but totally bearable. Any one else have fissure that was not unbearable??

Re: non-painful fissure?

Hi, I have one that comes and goes. I have ulcerative colitis as well as IBS. Stools can be "varied" depending on foods I've eaten and if I'm in a flare or not. I find that multiple times evacuating can exacerbate the fissure. As well, I have an external hemorrhoid that pops up at the same situation. Double the feelings. And to add insult to injury...I may even be in a flare some of the times. So..it's a mixed bag of sensations to say the least.

Do they hurt? Mine doesn't usually except when wiping at times. I always do a wash after a bm and if the fissure is there or the hemorrhoid I either use hydrocortisone cream or Proctocetyl. Depending on my mood.

I feel it, but wouldn't say it's painful.

What did the doc give you for yours?

Hope you heal quickly,
quincy

Re: non-painful fissure?

Doctor hasn't given me anything. I have had bleeding so doing a flexible scope tomorrow just to make sure-very nervous about that-always imagine the worst. He just told me to increase my fiber and stool softeners, which since I have done has really helped the bleeding/itching. He mentioned nitroglycerin cream if fiber alone didn't help.
