Hi Everyone, i would appreciate your replies to my problems. I have been suffering from a stomach complaint for about a 2 to 3 years now which feels like butterflies, nervous stomach, with pains intermittently in all different areas. I have also suffered from piles and thrombossed haemorhoids for about 3 years and also very loose stools and diahorear (ribboned/flat effect) with stomach cramps and upset stomachs. It has now also turned into acute lumbar pain which sometimes goes all the way up my back. I have also suffered for ten years with high blood pressure and hypertension brought under control with beta-blockers (Bisinopril) for the last 2 years. After a bad attack of pain in my side about 5 months ago i was rushed into hospital with what was thought to be diverticulitis. After a weeks stay on antibiotics, a ct scan, an ultra sound scan and an x-ray and 4 blood tests they came to the conclusion i have ibs and gave me the all clear. I have now started getting these really bad lumber pains and now going all up my back. I am an anxious person who sees the doctor more than one should over the last 10 years but still they say i am ok. I think i have a cancer of some sorts but all the test so far say not. Anyone out there can help me with some advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, Jamman.

Sorry to hear about all your problems!!

For your intestines and bowels to function properly a person needs 20 to 30 grams of fiber daily in their diet. It needs to be both types-- the type that absorbs fluid and fiber that does not. Also, all meat, seafood and dairy products contain no fiber. Fiber is in veggies, fruits and grains.

All fiber is not alike--- the water soluble fiber will bulk up your stool and the insoluble fiber just passes through almost without changing.

I have found that some insoluble fiber like too many nuts give me diarrhea or either a very loose stool also too much roughage like toss salads sometimes pass without change and can irritate hemorrhoids.

I am a big believer in ~~~~ GOOD Health Begins In The Intestine~~~ some vitamins that are produced in the intestines cannot be produced in a unhealthy environment-- particularly the B vitamins. A round of antibiotics can easily disrupt the friendly bacteria causing all sorts of problems.

The major cause of hemorrhoids is constipation and prolong standing.

I suggest that you start taking a water soluble fiber supplement daily like Metamucil with enough water like the directions say. Our diet these days just contains too much processed foods and not enough fiber.

You may also need some good vitamins like B's, C, E, A&D and minerals like Magnesium and Calcium along with trace minerals. Lacking some of these can cause a nervous stomach with the feeling of butterflies. The B vitamins are used for anxiety and some are the grandaddy of nerve vitamins.

I know all we want to be is normal but we truely have to be Pro Active and find out what is best --- we are all so much alike but yet so different!!!
